Runners-Up:
Ruby Tuesday
Heather Taylor-Watson
Melissa Stewart
The awards were presented by NNCA’s Creative Producer, Simon Wright, with a presentation by acclaimed artist Andy Holden providing a speech on his thinking behind providing this year’s award. The event also featured an inspiring speech from Paul Smith, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Science, and Technology.
Andy Holden praised the talent on display:
“The show was incredible, with so much great work. It felt like walking around an exhibition, better than many MA shows I’ve seen. This prize offers a small step forward, a bit of legitimacy. I chose Miami for the residency due to her provocative work with trash, reflecting on our precarious ecological moment. Kinga’s installation was thorough and personal, so I asked to split the prize with her. This talented year made my job difficult, and I’m grateful to have seen such wonderful work. Congratulations to all!” – Andy Holden
