NNCA is thrilled to announce a new Arts Council England funded opportunity to perform as part of artist collective Diasporas Now. The project is calling out for performance artists of the global majority to apply to perform at an event at NNCA in early November. This will be part of Diasporas Now’s first UK tour of live events across autumn 2023 to spring 2024 that will take place at Humber Street Gallery in Hull, NN Contemporary Art in Northampton, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in London.
Diasporas Now is a platform for expanded performance by and for artists of the global majority, opening up contemporaneous discourses on displaced identities and celebrating cross-diasporic solidarity. This open call with NNCA is for all artists of colour working across performance art, music, movement, film and spoken word in the Northants and East Midlands area.
The call-out is open to rolling submissions, and the deadline for priority consideration is the evening of 15th September 2023. Please express your interest by filling in the application form .
Details on the Disaporas Now UK Tour 2023-2024:
For each event there will be a line-up of five artists, consisting of three local artists (living and/or working in the town/city where the event will take place) and two external artists (living and/or working in a different town/city from which the event will take place). The artist fee will be £150 for local artists and £270 (£150 artist fee + £120 to cover travel costs and accommodation) for external artists.
The selection panel will consist of the Diasporas Now team (co-founders Rieko Whitfield, Paola Estrella, and Lulu Wang), and a guest artist panel of artists Harold Offeh and Michelle Williams Gamaker.
