Hours:15 hours per week, some occasional evening and weekend work will be required and repaid with TOIL. 

Salary: £13,600 P/T Fixed Term for 1 year (£34,000 FTE)

The Project Archivist will be part of the Digitalising the Northamptonshire Black Archives Project team, funded through a recently awarded Heritage Lottery Fund grant to digitise and make publicly accessible the Northamptonshire Black History Association (NBHA) archive held at NNCA. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the archive is digitised to appropriate standards using software such as CALM and made available to the public. 

Reporting to the Artistic Director at NNCA & in liaison with the NBHA Trustees, the post holder will work closely with the project team to enhance access to this historically significant collection. In addition to their archival responsibilities, they will contribute to developing an associated Digital Humanities project for the NBHA. They will also play a key role in creating a new business plan for the Northamptonshire Black History Association, ensuring its long-term sustainability and alignment with regional and national heritage strategies. This will involve exploring funding opportunities, strategic partnerships, and audience development plans to support the NBHA’s future activities.

The post holder will also support outreach and engagement efforts to promote the archive and expand its research and teaching potential, with a particular focus on minoritised and marginalised communities. This may include curating exhibitions, commissioning new content for accession, and presenting conference papers where appropriate.

The Project Archivist post is primarily based at NN Contemporary Art and is part of the NN Team Structure.
