Sunday 31 August 2025 | 2pm–10pm | Various Locations, Northampton
NN Contemporary Art is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated return of NN Nights, a vibrant, town-wide celebration of arts and culture, taking place on Sunday 31 August 2025, from 2pm to 10pm. Following the overwhelming success of last year’s event, this edition promises to be even bigger and bolder, featuring over 50 artists presenting exhibitions, performances, and participatory projects across Northampton.
The festivities will kick off with the much-loved Lightning Bolt Drawing Competition by Bill Pollard at the Racecourse, a dynamic, community-driven event where participants are invited to draw chalk lightning bolts on to the ground as part of an artist-judged celebration of creativity and competition. From there, visitors are invited to explore the NN Nights Art Map trail, a curated series of exhibitions and performances taking place at partner venues throughout Northampton. Whether you’re a local resident or visiting from out of town, NN Nights offers an extraordinary opportunity to immerse yourself in the best of Northampton’s contemporary arts scene. This year’s NN Nights features a series of micro-commissions inviting selected artists to respond to the historic theme of The Great Fire of Northampton. Ranging from installations to performances, these works will be presented across key sites in the town. Chosen through an open call, the commissioned artists – Michelle Woolley, Tyrone Williams, Khari Worrell, Merlin Summers, James A. Smith, Charlotte Rentell, Maksim Podorozkin and Ru Inglis offer inventive reflections on place, history, and transformation.
“We are excited to bring NN Nights back for another year of creativity, collaboration, and community engagement,” said Richard Harrison, one of the event’s producers. “The event has grown significantly, and we can’t wait to share the incredible talent and energy of our local artists with the community once again.”
More events, locations and pop-up performances from artists based in and around Northampton will be announced in the coming weeks.
NN Nights 2025 is produced by Richard Harrison and WM Pollard for NN Contemporary Art, and is generously supported by Arts Council England, Click Arts Foundation, Northampton Town Council, pHp Architects, Michael Jones Jewellery, Yellow Bourbon Coffee Roasters
