Charlotte’s paintings begin from experiences within live music contexts, using photographic imagery of light and movement, she manipulates these into digitally layered images. Through digital images and overpainting, she arrives at a starting point for her paintings. These compositions are overlaid  with painted gestures which in turn act as another level of movement within the frame. Drawn to un-depictable layers within her paintings Charlotte seeks to create technical confusion within her surfaces.

Charlotte has used her time in residence with NNCA to realise new works in a more expansive context and to hone in on experiments with transparency and layering. She has experimented with resin for the first time in her work, creating glossy, luminous surfaces.
