She uses symbolism and unusual assemblages to challenge familiar narratives and our relationship with animals. Her practice reflects a deep fascination with wildlife and a growing awareness of the risks of misrepresentation in animal imagery. By embracing surrealism and visual oddity, she invites viewers to reconsider their perceptions of non-human life and the stories we attach to them.
Gina has spent her time in residence with N Contemporary Art exploring the possibilities of oil paint, after years working exclusively with acrylic. This period has also served as a space for introspection, allowing her time to examine and push the boundaries of her visual language. After studying Illustration at the University of Northampton, she has produced a series of sketches which lean into the surreal imagery which underpins her work, freeing up her process ahead of studying Fine Art: Painting at Camberwell College of Arts later this month.
